Meet the Team

Crackers and Grape Juice began in the spring of 2016 with a conversation between Jason Micheli and Teer Hardy. In the years since, two shows have been added to the lineup, Strangely Warmed, (Her)Men*You*Tics, and You’re Not Accepted, but the goal has remained the same: talking about faith without using stained-glass language.

Jason Micheli is a United Methodist pastor in Alexandria, Virginia, having earned degrees from the University of Virginia and Princeton Theological Seminary. He writes the Tamed Cynic blog and is the author Cancer is Funny: Keeping Faith in Stage Serious Chemo. He lives in the Washington, DC, area with his wife and two sons.

Teer Hardy is husband, father, and brewery theologian.  He lives in Arlington, Virginia and is a United Methodist Pastor.  Teer has received degrees from West Virginia Wesleyan College and Wesley Theological Seminary.  Keep up with his sermons and thoughts on his blog or Twitter.

Taylor Mertins is a United Methodist pastor in Roanoke, Virginia, having earned degrees from James Madison University and Duke Divinity School. He regularly posts sermons, devotionals, and other theological reflections at Think and Let Think, and you can follow him on Twitter. Taylor is the host of Strangely Warmed.

Dr. Johanna Hartelius is an Associate Professor of Rhetoric in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She is the author of The Rhetoric of Expertise (Lexington, 2011) and the forthcoming book The Gifting Logos: Expertise in the Digital Commons (University of California Press, 2020). When she’s not explaining to Crackers and Grape Juice that rhetoric means something other than ornamentation and lies, she teaches graduate and undergraduate classes and tries to raise two little humans. Johanna is the host of You’re Not Accepted.

Tommie Marshell is the editor and producer for C&GJ. A professional photographer in OKC, Tommie is a lover of chickens, wayward goats, and her two boys. A fan of MMA, when she’s not watching UFC she’s kicking her Jason and the other Jason in the ass. You can find her work here.

David King is the official minion of the podcast. He is student at Princeton Theological Seminary.  His academic interests are in theology, ethics, and language.  Outside of the classroom, David loves to read, sing, bike, and run.
